RELCOM (Red Latinoamericana y del Caribe para la Conservación de los Murciélagos) is a network of expert professionals committed to the conservation of bats in Latin America and the Caribbean. In August 2007, bat conservation groups from Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Bolivia signed an agreement to collaborate and establish common long-term goals for bat conservation in the region. This network ensures that conservation efforts are coordinated and not isolated. RELCOM’s vision is to achieve harmony between humans and bats across Latin America and the Caribbean.
RELCOM’S Objectives:
- Research: To promote and stimulate a generation of scientific knowledge contributing to the conservation of bats and their habitats.
- Education and communication: To spread knowledge about bats and involve local people in their conservation.
- Conservation: To promote the application of concrete action and policies aimed at preserving bat species and populations in Latin America and the Caribbean. If you are interested in knowing more about various RELCOM projects and its members across the region please visit RELCOM’s website.
